Excellent 5-String U-Bass

I am really pleased with my 5-string. It looks and plays great. Pleased with the after sales when I contacted Kala about a screw which needed tightening. It 's also good to receive a quality gig-bag also.

Decent sonics for its size

The bass is small for a five-string, hence good for travel. It sounds full-scale for its size and has a decent B string that is not a thud. The string spacing is narrower than most basses I have played and sometimes I grapple with complex material, especially if I do not use the B string. However, I still have my Rumbler from 2014 when I need only four strings. Kala did a grand job getting playable sonics from a downsized 5-string instrument with a punchy moderate-output passive magnetic pickup. Without comparison the 5-string solid body is a clear winner. Nevertheless, compared to some of the larger basses, the Kala has somewhat less definition and a hint of mud.
