R8 lives up to the hype

The rod lives up to every bit of the hype and more. Super fast and accurate delivery. The day after receiving it I took it to fish for sea-run cutties, which always feels like a race against time before the bite shuts off when the sun comes out. The R8 cut my number of false casts in half and stretched my casting distance way out increasing the time my fly spent in the water in front of fish, and not in the air. It handled the big sea-runs perfectly, hooked a summer steelhead too and didn’t feel terribly under gunned with it. Will absolutely be adding a few more R8s to the arsenal in different weights.

My first 9' 6" 5 weight

Great rod throws light flies with good distance and accuracy and has great response when playing even larger fish. Not the best for heavy flies.
