I got these for general purposes. Not really food storage. Tho I do use them to hold dried food for snacks at work. I use these primarily to organize my knick nacks for backpacking and work: like hair ties, batteries, mag powder, metal shavings for art, etc. Since they're decomposable I don't feel bad about having to throw them out when I'm done with them. These aren't ment to hold or repel liquids and they don't. Expect soggy sandwich when left in ice water.
