Can't charge while in use

Had this 1-port controller for 2 weeks. It works as intended but I can't fully assess its features as I don't have experience with or knowledge of other controllers in this price category. Therefore my only critical comment thus far is this: Battery in the controller can not be charged while a pad is being used. I was using the head pad and and a light on the controller start blinking, indicating low battery. I plugged the battery to a power source and the pad got turned off. That meant, I could not finish my session until after the controller was charged. I was able to have six sessions, 20-minute each, on a fully charged battery. Then it took 1 hr and 15 minutes to fully charge the battery. That is quite a delay and a major inconvenience. Plus, all batteries have a limited life span after which they don't hold charge. I don't know what the life span of this controller is but I know that when that time comes, I would be forced to spend another $1,300 to get a new one. The older versions of this controller could be charged while in use. For some reason the manufacturer decided to make the controller less convenient and in the long run, way more expensive.
