The Carousel Fountain Pen - Tides of Midas

Expectations didn’t match

I like the refillable reservoir for the ink, but the feel of the pen when writing has been just ok. The medium nib doesn’t spread as much as I would like, so the ink flow is steady but doesn’t vary with up and down strokes as much as I’d like. I expected it to have more flexibility like a calligraphy nib, so that’s my own misunderstanding. But the fountain inks I bought to go with this (iridescent, metallic beauties) don’t really work in this pen. Or I haven’t managed it myself. But I can get the effect with my calligraphy pen, so I know it’s possible! Still a work in process. The pen is fine, just not the new favorite I’d hoped to find.

Nice pen

This is a nice pen that I got to play with the Ferris wheel, press nibs and I'm glad I've got it. It will be a nice everyday pen to teach my grandson how to use a fountain pen.

Wonderful

I gifted Tides of Midas pen for Christmas and my nephew loves it. It was a good entry level fountain pen for kids from this generation who hardly write by hand. All parts of this pen work well without issues. The ink flow is as good as one can expect from this entry level.
