Dolphin Router Template (Clear Acrylic)

I am a woodworker who does some inlay work. One of the most common tools used by us is a kit made by Whiteside. I involves a 1/8" spiral router bit and a fixture that involves 2 stages. The stage to created the opening uses a 3/8" bushing and the bushing is removed to cut the inlay. My problem with the both the dolphin and turtle templates is that the fin areas are too narrow to allow the 3/8" bushing to pass through. I had to do significant grinding with a Dremel tool to make the templates usable with my system. I have purchased other templates in the past that worked well with this system. This Whiteside system is very commonly used by woodworkers (check YouTube). I would suggest you look at the measurements necessary to allow this system to work and possibly make some adjustments.

Great Router Templates

I got the Sea Turtle and Dolphin templates. Both came in on time and in great condition. I’ve used both for epoxy inlays in charcuterie boards.

Excellent Template

The dolphin template looks great and makes an excellent inlay on projects. It’s important to get the grain in the right direction so small pieces won’t break off. Nice tight fit between the positive and negative elements
