Drillmate Portable Drill Press

I highly recommend this portable drill press. I needed to drill an additional row of holes for a cable in in the 2 inch stainless steel posts of the new cable railing system I'm installing on my deck. Drilling it freehand was impossible, not enough force, and removing all the posts and cables one at a time to drill them on my bench drill press would have been very tedious and time-consuming. This product allowed me to take use my old heavy-duty drill to drill pretty accurately through both sides the post, in one pass, without removing the posts or other cables. The gear ratio was good, it was easy to drill through both sides of the post in about 15 seconds and easy to control. Only minor challenge was the clamp that holds the drill was too deep for my older DeWalt corded drill, but I was able to grind back 1/4" of aluminum drill casing so it would clamp the drill neck but not the chuck. The clamp is very precise and strong, so check that your drill's neck is no more than exactly 1" in diameter, and also at least 1 full inch free behind the chuck to clamp onto. It would also be nice if there were an accessory to allow the outer end of the clamp to actually clamp onto a post so you are not trying to hold it in place level/flat in 2 dimensions while also pulling the drill trigger and winding the press handle. But overall it worked very well for my project, saved me many hours and/or avoided a more expensive solution.
