This tool makes creating burrs on scrapers easy and consistent - provided the normal preparation is done (as it should be) a few quick strokes and the job is done. For me, the main benefit is getting a reproducible burr every time (plus it's quicker doing both sides at once). I'm fairly comfortable sharpening scrapers, so not sure it produces a significantly superior burr, but consistency and speed are the key. It particularly shines on curved scrapers. The handles are beautifully made and fit the carbide rod perfectly. A great addition to the workshop, highly recommended.
