Elastic buckles on both sides, girth isn't too wide or bulky. Fleece is soft and padded, however make sure the velcro attachment is well lined up so that no edges can rub on horses elbow. I expected a 'sleeve' design but it is fully velcro to the girth, therefore the girth can only be used with the fleece.
