I love this leash!
I adore this leash. I've used it for almost 3 months, so figured it was time to review it. it's easy to hold in the same hand I hold my guide dog's harness handle. I bought the large and it's so lightweight and is the perfect length, both when shortened and at its longest length. It's been on many adventures: lots of indoor and outdoor walks, sandy dune climbing, the beach, drug through the grass and over concrete, bath time, and has held up well.
Love, love, love the texture; I was worried it'd have that sticky feeling that attracts dust when I read it was Silicone-dipped, but not at all. It feels soft. It's as flexible as any fabric leash you can buy from a petstore. It feels high-quality in my hands, though, no fraying or fuzziness unlike nylon leashes I've used for non-guide work.
The plastic buckles are a little stiff on the 3 leashes I bought (yes, after buying my first leash, I liked it so much I bought 2 extras), but I'm hoping with time, they'll get easier to use. I'd really like to see a smaller width leash in future, please. 3/4" is definitely better than 1", but I'd love a 1/2" width leash if possible. The clip is quick to attach to my dog's collar, however, be forewarned the lock usually requires me using 2 hands to undo. Wich, on 1 hand, is nice because its secure, but on the other, it can be tricky to open.
I like just how quick it is to lengthen and shorten. It's the perfect length long-wise to let my guide use the bathroom or have a sniffie break. I was unsure how I'd feel about the built in adjustable handle, but I can't imagine using a leash without it, now. It's better than the fixed snap and o-ring combo on my guide's program leash, which I thought nothing could top until this ruffwear leash. 😉It's quick and easy to unclip, put it around my leg or very sturdy object, then clip to secure. I don't tether her by herself, btw; I only clip her to me or heavy objects when I'm around.
In closing, I am very pleased with this leash and would buy 3 more if a 1/2" version came out with the same lengths of the large leash. So glad it's offered in a neutral color like gray and not just red.
