Great trail and after trail shorts
I prefer the AFO line of shorts over the multi shorts which have the double waist lining for storage. The front key pocket in the AFO’s is a perfect non shake location for a phone, just like the non ultra AFO’s. The zippered pockets are great for stashing a wind or rain jacket and after-run around town utility. The gel pockets are great non shake location for phone as well or other heavier items. I tend toward the ultra AFO’s for trail runs, and the non-ultras for road runs.

Incredible Shorts!
I have run in a lot of shorts (Brooks, The North Face, Saucony, Mizuno, Adidas, Nike, New Balance, etc.). Ran a ten miler in first run with them, and they felt incredible. Running the Chicago marathon in October and this will be the race day short!

Extremely Disappointing
2nd pair and this one is awful. Would give it a zero if I could. Bought in 2024 a green pair that I used in my qualifying marathon for Boston 2026. Perfect. Bought this pair three weeks before Boston to run what is my final marathon. Absolutely awful. I wore them 2x: one of my two final long training runs and then the marathon itself on 4/20/26. After the final training run, the cording around the left leg elastic band began unraveling. Then during the Boston marathon between mile 7 and 8, I went to tighten the drawstring and it BROKE.....yes it BROKE INSIDE the waistband---- think about it, loaded with gels and 18 miles to go and no way to tighten the drawstring. Constantly adjusting your shorts up for last 18 miles---yeah nice...The draw string is absolutely cheesy. It needs to be way thicker so it is 1) easy to tie and bind at the right place/tension and 2) actually support loaded shorts as intended. NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALL.
