Suunto Ocean Dive Computer

Great, I have put the Ocean through 10 multi-level dives, with a Tank Pod. Really easy to use, the display is super clear and easy to read the OLED screen is very bright! I would recommend this!

Goo bright screen, but no underwater compass. Very misleading would not have bought it had I known this..

I've just returned from Egypt where I used this to dive to a maximum of 39m over 10 dives. This computer is really bright and easy to use (even on medium brightness and in bright sunshine). The deco countdown round the bezel and the deco and safety stop info is really clear. The ability to cycle through lots of functions in the bottom window including temp, max depth, no deco times and lots of others was really good. The underwater tracker that shows you a 3d model of your dive in the app is pretty cool, IF..IF..... you remember to turn on the dive app and make sure it has connected with the GPS before descending. grrrr. I forgot a few times :-) The surface feature are pretty good, I have logged some weight training, walks and snorkelling and it also does all the usual fit bit type stuff of steps, sleep pattern, calories burnt, heart rate etc. Two things that are not great :- 1. You have to remember to turn on the dive setting and wait for the GPS to catch up and connect before descending if you want the cool underwater 3d thingy to work. I'm so used to strapping on my old computer and jumping in so I did forget a few times, but hey that's user error. 2. The biggest downfall with this computer is the lack of compass underwater. Despite there being a compass on the surface and in Freedive mode, why on earth have Suunto not put an underwater compass into the dive mode. I find the literature to be misleading where it talks about underwater route tracking (you'd assume it was a compass). I would not have bought this had it been clear a compass wasn't included. Come on Suunto even my old Suunto Vyper had a compass...!!! I've spoken to Suunto and they can't/won't say whether a sottware update is in the works to bring a dive mode compass to this otherwise great dive watch/computer. Service from Mikes was great. I only decided to order this a few days before flying, spoke to them and it arrived the next day.
