It holds a badge. Hook/Loop on the back is great for my extensive patch collection. The only thing I dislike is that the plastic used for the "window" to actually see the badge is not entirely clear. You can see the badge, but it's a bit blurry to look at through the window. Maybe it was considered as a security feature to combat photo-reproduction. Either way, it's well constructed and does its job.
