This line really takes off if you have it on the right rod. The short heavy head means a minimum of false casting and shooting a lot of line. I’m using the full intermediate and the I/S3/S5 versions in #10 on a 10wt sage RPLX single-hand rod and an 8wt sage Z-Axis two-handed rod. It’s like launching a rocket. But on a slightly more moderate sage RPL 8wt single hand rod, the #8 outbound short was total overload. Given how fast action most rods are today in the heavier line classes, this fly line will make you a better caster. But like most high-quality performance gear, you need to find the right match. On the right rod, it’s 5 stars.
