Comfortable but a little big

I bought an L based on the size chart. And while it fits around my waist there's still some gapping on the bottom. Depending on what I'm doing it's fine, but the more active things I can't wear these. I definitely have a smaller butt so perhaps that's really the issue. They are comfortable and flattering! The color is gorgeous and the material feels amazing.
