My First Omega
There have been so many reviews on the internet and YouTube regarding the appearance of the Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra 150M Worldtimer that it’s virtually pointless to address that subject in detail. I would however, like to point out that its appearance in person is significantly more impressive. I had intended to purchase a Frederique Constant Worldtimer Manufacture Dark Blue and was able to find one at a jeweler to see. It’s very nice and, I might have eventually bought one. I did however, stop in at Teddy’s Boutique in Westlake to take a look at the Aqua Terra Worldtimer. I was stunned and the FC was a distant memory. After some careful thought and despite the significant price difference, I eventually decided to buy the Omega. I’ve had it for a while now and it’s become one of the cornerstones of my collection. It’s an extremely impressive timepiece and I’m really happy that I acquired it. In addition to its unique appearance, the feature that impresses me the most is the simplicity of setting the world and local time functions using a single crown. Despite what some YouTubers say, after pulling the crown to the 3rd position, you just set the 24-hour chapter ring to UTC at 6:00 and then all the city time zones display their current Standard Time. As with other Travelers’ GMT’s, you set the local hour, AM/PM, and date after pulling the crown into the 2nd position. Since UTC is never provided in Daylight Time, Omega cleverly displays the names of the cities that are in time zones that observe DST in white, and those that do not in blue. This way you can remember to add an hour for DST when it’s appropriate. Although it’s fairly big at 43 mm, I find that this watch wears very well on my 7 ¼ inch wrist and it’s fairly short 50. 3 mm lug-to-lug measurement is quite compact. My only quibble is that, as someone who like to set the time accurately with the hands lined up exactly, the lack of markers for all 60 minutes is somewhat annoying. That’s my only negative and that’s nothing really. I love it and my opinion is that the Aqua Terra Worldtimer is a unique part of Omega’s Seamaster collection and is certainly worth a look.
