Installing the HeaterCraft blower in my Jeep TJ Wrangler
I have a 1999 Jeep Wrangler that just doesn’t put out much heat from under the dash anymore. I wanted to be able for my wife and I to use it in the winter here in Colorado. When I saw a video about putting in a HeaterCraft heater I loved the idea of the Hottube vents that you can pull out and put under your jacket. That way even if my soft top Jeep is not draft free you can still be warm. There was no practical way of mounting it under the dash because the factory heater core and airconditioning occupies that space. Also, I didn’t want to fool with taking off the whole dash to get to the heater core, and also, I didn’t want to give up what air conditioning I still get out of it in the summer. So I found a pretty good place for it behind the front seats. The heater hoses went through the floor with grommets and run up to the engine compartment to hook into the existing heater core hoses. The ducts just come up into the heater tubes beside the two front seats. Because I didn’t see the wiring diagram printed on the blower, the first time I tried to wire it I burned out the blower motor. HeaterCraft was very understanding and sent me another one, which works great! I’m very happy with my HeaterCraft blower, which was actually developed for use in boats, and the HeaterCraft team, who I can’t say enough good things about. Jim Smith Retired Colorado
