No Odor!
This is my first quilt. I am very sensitive to odors, and this quilt has absolutely no smell (a key factor in my decision to purchase this HMG quilt after reading many reviews across brands). I am 5’2” and a side sleeper. I bought size Short and could cinch up above my head. Used for 4 nights so far. Clipped to the sleeping pad, it was comfortable at 42-degrees wearing a base layer (and ~50 degrees unclipped with a tank top). Super light, compact, and high quality. Well worth the investment!

Used once so far.
Superb. My previous experience with quilts came courtesy of a now-ancient MLD Spirit quilt. Draughts and the tapes for securing that quilt sent me back to PHD's excellent sleeping bags. I am a huge PHD fan but have to concede that the HMG 40F quilt is right up there. For starters, the securing system is far better than MLD's Noughties design. In use, it adds the width of my sleeping pad to the diameter of the quilt, giving a much roomier sleeping arrangement than I am used to. Draughts did not get in but the one test so far was not the toughest. I bought the quilt because my new tent has a solid inner, which is warmer than I was used to with an innerless Duomid. The 40F quilt proved comfortable and toasty, once fully fluffed up, but I was able to get my feet and a shoulder out so I stayed at a pleasant temperature. I suspect that further testing will show 40F to be a conservative rating. I probably sleep hotter than most, though.
The elderly Spirit has one advantage over 1000 fill down products - I can throw it in any old washing machine and, afterwards, it dries quickly. Given that the 40F quilt is such a luxury product, I see no reason for deducting a point just because my new quilt will be getting professional cleaning.
