I own a Van Der Hagen safety razor which is good but the Feather SR Pro Japanese style handle blows it out of the water. I was able to clear a week’s worth of stubble with one pass vs two or three with my safety razor.

I love the concept of a shavette, the versatility of a straight razor in regards to control and angles, but without the investment of sharpening in home Issue is most shavettes are pretty cheap quality, and they have a very harsh angle / blade exposure that makes them significantly harder to use than any straight razor. The result is a harsh razor that requires the highest level of skill... The feather solves this by using its own blades, its got angles closer to the straight razor so in a sense its much more forgiving compared to your 30 dollar parker shavette Incredible quality of materials, intuitive blade holder that is easy to clean, the only potential con is you need to buy into the artist club blade system, feather blades specifically designed for this line of razors. Very good blades, with the premium feather price, not too bad considering how long they last but its worth noting

excellent product to get your shave on

I received my SR approximately 3 months ago. My intent is for the SR to be a stepping stone to my great grandfathers strait that I am restoring. What I found is an excellent product, well engineered, well balanced and a joy to shave with. I watched all of Geo's vireos and took my time. Soft guards for a few weeks then transitioned to pro guards and now the pro blades. Yes I cut myself a few times but I got better each shave( still mastering the left handed ATG under the neck ). Geo was absolutely right, about 60 shaves to really feel good with my technique, This is absolutely the best BBS shave you can give yourself.
