Good Moments
Overall I enjoyed the film and moments where I literally laughed out loud. I did find the movie a bit repetitive and felt like it overstated its welcome but all in all it was a worthwhile addition to my collection.

Funny parody
Top Knot Detective is a wildly entertaining mockumentary that lovingly skewers the world of cult television while celebrating the strange, scrappy creativity behind it. Presented as an investigative documentary about a long‑lost Japanese action series and its chaotic production history, the film blends deadpan humor, faux archival footage, and pitch‑perfect genre pastiche. What makes it work so well is the commitment to the bit: the filmmakers craft an entire fictional pop‑culture ecosystem—complete with scandals, rivalries, and absurd behind‑the‑scenes lore—that feels surprisingly authentic. The result is both a parody and a tribute, capturing the charm of low‑budget TV while poking fun at the myths that grow around cult media. It’s clever, funny, and unexpectedly heartfelt, especially for viewers who love oddball genre history and the strange stories that surround it.

Hidden gem
This was so well done, had a great time. This is the kind of thing you hope to find when you blind buy random stuff.
