I broke a couple of the stars accidentally. Which I found was surprised me. I bought them on sale for $4.00 each. I used a special lacquer which did make them look and feel better.
Then I found that Kmart sells some very similar 2 x for $2.00. There a little thinner and a little smaller, but they are good to work with.
