Plank Firm Luxe

This is the first bed that is firm enough for me that I’ve found in ages. I bought it without the gel layer but can see why you might want that. It is a hot mattress. I deliberately chose a non pillow top because they get soft so fast and that hurts my back. I add an egg crate topper which softens the firmness a little but which can be replaced at low cost whenever it starts to soften too much. I think the double sides with different firmness is brilliant. I gave it four stars only because even with the egg crate foam which definitely cools it, this is a hot bed. I am a chilly sleeper so it’s weird to be warm enough, but I think this could bother many people. The cooling gel foam is a good idea for most.

Finally, a mattress that is firm! I like to watch TV and eat in bed, so I prefer a firm mattress with stiff edge firmness. I also tend to wear out one spot so I like that I can spin and flip this mattress to get even wear.
