Mind Melters From Poland

Tower. A Bright Day - Interesting opening with camera high above, following a vehicle on a mountain road. Maybe a slight “Shining” inspiration? Talented director creates an uneasy, off feeling throughout the film. Crazy twist that I didn't see coming. Very well made with a good soundtrack. Video quality is okay, cinematography is beautiful though. Monument - Not quite as coherent and gets a little boring at times. I had a hard time keeping track of the characters. But, there's still this weirdness to the film that keeps you engaged right up till the end. Very interesting and this was another surprising twist of a film. Good selection of extras on both discs and booklet. Overall a solid double feature! Jagoda Szelc is a director to keep an eye on. If you enjoy strange, atmospheric foreign films, this set is highly recommended!
