Beautiful results using roller/paintbrush
I just want to start off by saying I'm not a professional. Just a Mom who likes to DIY and has done a handful of home projects. I was very nervous about using this paint because it had recommended using only a paint sprayer. I had thought I'd buy one and purchased this paint and then looked further and panicked. I realized it needed an expensive professional one with a large air compressor for good results. I called Pontiac Paint Supply and he talked me through everything and told me he thought Id be okay using a paint roller/ brush combo. They ended up thickening the paint for me to use with a roller. I was also apprehensive because the price point was more than I have ever spent on paint. I used Centurion High Build Acrylic Primer 1111 as the base coat and I used a catalyst (hardener) in that. They ended up tinting the primer a lighter version of my topcoat color. Then I used this Centurion 2800 2k topcoat. Added at least 10% catalyst. I asked for the color Evergreen Fog which is a sherwin williams color. They matched it perfectly in my opinion. I also had originally ordered it in satin and they told me Id most likely want flat because the sheen is higher in these paints. They were right the paint has the perfect sheen in the flat and is highly wipeable and easy to clean. We actually reface our cabinets. We kept the original boxes but cut doors out of a higher quality sanded plywood. Even though it was presanded I sanded it some more and there were still some imperfections. This paint is self leveling and filled in any tiny pits. I do want to say that for the results I achieved I did use paint stripper to remove original paint from my cabinet boxes and then used krud kutter to clean it and sanded them so that I would get the best results. The paint drys super hard and is ready to be wrapped and shipped in 24 hours. I let mine sit for 48 hours just to be safe before putting my doors up. We have had them up for weeks and wiped them down and accidentally bumped them putting in counters and they haven't chip at all!! I am so happy I chose to go with pontiac paint supply and if you have any doubts or questions I would recommend you calling them because alot of things I thought I needed they helped me change around to fit my needs. They also are just super knowledgeable and made me feel secure in my decisions. The finished results are nothing short of amazing. I'm so glad I spent the extra money for a quality product. The shipping was fast! We recieved the paint in a temp controlled box within 24 hours. I wanted to give a thorough review in the hopes it helps anyone like me (a regular Joe or Josephine) looking to DIY their own cabinets!
