Who said you can’t hear a symphony orchestra at home?
I’ve been enjoying this superb performance of Prokofiev’s 5th in DSD256 for about 3 years. It’s become one of my favorite pieces of classical music. A roller coaster of different moods and varying dynamic contrasts. But I recently got a NADAC DAC and Click, and downloaded the DXD version, which is the “edit file.” Wow, now I am experiencing the microphone feed. A revelatory experience . Bravo maestro Gaffigan, and Bert’s deft recording technique.

Classical symphony for classical connoisseurs
From Karajan's 1982 version of Prokofiev's Classical Symphony which was a complete surprise in my younger days, Gaffigan's reading kept me on my toes until the last movement. Explosive dynamics combined with contemplative detail is the underlying thread of Gaffigan's entire performance, and Bert's otherworldly recording, responsible for the goosebump at every crescendo, will make this album an absolute must for all classical music connoisseurs. I downloaded the original DXD version to test our new real-time DXD to DSD converter. This type of digital conversion is probably the new standard for serious High End systems as it allows a much more natural analog conversion with D/A converters that support Direct DSD (usually equipped with a ROHM or AKM chip) or with a NADAC that by default performs the same DXD to DSD conversion. Again, a masterpiece from Bert's studio...
