Different construction
The previous version had dovetailed edges. New model shows raw edges of bookcase at top. Perhaps the top panel should be slightly inset from side panels to hide the raw edge.

Solid, Beautiful, and Insanely Easy Assembly
This piece is solid. Unlike most cubbies on the market, it's actually built with solid wood and the maple base is gorgeous. I use it as a nightstand in my daughter's room and it's the perfect spot for her favorite books, her Alexa, and a clock. I like that it's built to last and it's versatile so it can change roles as she gets older. Assembly was insanely easy. All I had to do was pop the feet on and tighten a nut. I didn't even need a tool. I'll pay more for that ease of assembly any day!

Worth it!
I’ve been impressed with the entire experience and with the product quality! These shelves are worth it! I ordered two shelves directly from the Milton and Goose site. They shipped within a few days. The shelves arrived in individual boxes with handles (easy to move) and required minimal assembly (no tools required). They look great and you can easily see and feel the quality. I had previously ordered different shelves from a different well-known furniture store and they had a strong toxic paint smell — but these Milton and Goose shelves are completely odorless. Very happy with this purchase.
