Defrosts too quickly

Received my cold socks and gloves in time for my second chemo infusion. The inserts defrost much too quickly. Changing them out with the frozen replacements takes too much time spent without cold coverage. Is there a way to prepare the inserts that would assist with ice retention other than freezing them in a home freezer??
