The Way It Should Have Been
Like every one else owning a Ryobi rider mower received the three year surprise of the batteries requiring replacement ( I was expecting at least five years). Doing the research on line, decided replacing the existing batteries did not make sense and pursued a conversion to lithium. Watched a lot of ideas on You Tube and decided converting using a Epoch battery kit was the way to go. The kit contains ALMOST everything you required to make the conversion. Note, you will need to have handyman skills and watch the recommended You Tube video, probably several times. Instructions are not provided with the kit nor a stock-list. Not provided, 1/4" plastic sheet 12x12 inch, sheet metal screws, electric lugs, 5/16 inch one for 18-22 AWG and two 5/16 inch for 8 AWG prefer marine grade, method to hold battery in place, and finally if you don't own a grinder, a method to raise the battery, (I used Trex and 1/4 rubber padding). Once you having everything it goes together pretty straight forward. When finally assembled, worked pretty much as it should. I have already cut my lawn three times with no issues what so ever. After each cutting still have over 50% power and charges up in a couple hours. If the battery holds up as long as the warranty, 11 years, this conversion will be well worth the time to convert and expense. A few extra notes, if you live up north you may want to remove the battery for the winter if you store in an unheated garage. The meter replacement is a bit unusual, it stays on after you turn your mower off but eventually will go to sleep. When you go to use your mower, it will not come on when you turn the key on, but will when you step on the accelerator. I tried to use the hole drill method for the meter hole but it dulled out before I could cut through. I did use the wood with hole as a guide and used a Dermel tool to open the meter hole. Finally will have to figure out how you are going to crimp the lugs to the 8 AWG wire. For anyone wanting to attempt to do the conversion, I totally recommend this kit for the Ryobi 30 inch Electric Lawn Mower. My experience dealing with Epoch Batteries online, their support was extremely helpful when I presented them with a few questions, prior to and post purchase. Everything came well packaged and protected.

Great Battery - No Guidance, Too Much Cabling
Overall, the battery is great. It seems stronger and lasts longer than the OEM battery, plus it is far better than regularly changing the OE lead-acid batteries. There were 2 big problems, in my opinion. First, the kit includes far too much cabling, making it a chore to secure it all in the battery compartment in the mower. The cable for the gauge, for example, must be pushing 5 feet in length. Second, the kit comes with NO instructions. Nothing. I found a video of someone installing this kit online and used that for guidance, but it’s far from perfect. My kit included a Bluetooth module which was not referenced at all in the video, which wasn’t even created by Epoch. For the price, at least a high-level wiring diagram showing how all the components connect would have been nice. After the install, I still had questions, so I called Epoch directly. The support and guidance I received over the phone was top-notch.

Great conversion
This conversion was super easy on my mower. Just need to be careful when enlarging hole for gauge or it will be loose. Works 10X better than original equipment! Very happy with this conversion.
