I recently purchased the G5 synthetic knot in a 28mm size and mounted it "high" (1/2") into a handle. The knot itself is soft like a premium badger knot--yet it is denser and stiffer than my other synthetic knots. The net result (using the relatively shallow depth) is a brush that is soft and comfortable on the skin, but has enough backbone to raise the whiskers for an extremely close and efficient shave.
