Worth every penny

This hibachi is a throwback to the ones sold in the ‘60s and ‘70s in many large discount stores like McRory’s, Woolworth’s, Korvette’s, Two Guys, etc. These were the poor man’s or college kid’s Weber. My family had one, and we shlepped it to the beach, lake wherever and it never let us down. This grill is almost a clone of that old warhorse which lasted over 20 years, and which my wife and I “inherited” after we married. The difference is that the castings on this grill are thinner and sloppier, but to tell the truth it makes little difference. It does make the grill cheaper to manufacture. The multiple levels for the dual grills is a great feature, and if you’re cooking fish and a steak, you can set the fish high and the steak closer to the coals so as to have both dishes turn out just right. It was one of the best features of the original Japanese hibachis, and I was surprised and pleased to see that feature carried through to this model. The grill is well-made for the price point, with nice wooden handles on both the two cooking grills and the grill itself. Even the little damper doors which control the airflow are cast iron! One tip: don’t skim on the charcoal. Two small bags (The smallest size) are what’s needed to cook for 4 people. I used 1 bag, and it was barely enough. Fill this sucker up, and get cookin’!
