Tight elastic tops.
I don’t understand sock manufacturers obsession with making socks with tight elastic tops. Legs get wider as they go up from the ankle, but for some reason socks get narrower. I always cut the elastic tops from socks I buy and because they have some elasticity throughout the entire sock they never fall down. The narrower tight elastic tops are completely unnecessary. I thought I’d try these as they claim to be 2x less restrictive than 100% cotton socks. Well they are not. I opened the packet and immediately let out a frustrated sigh when I saw the tops are narrower and tighter than the main body of the sock. After just an hour of wearing them they felt uncomfortable and when I looked at my leg, I had the usual indentations and marks left by all socks. I wish sock manufacturers would just dispense with this ridiculous idea of tight elastic tops. Just make the entire sock right to the top with the same material as the main body, they will not fall down because of the elastic properties of the materials used. If you’re thinking of buying these socks because you don’t want those uncomfortable indentations and marks left around your lower leg, well don’t. I’ll be going back to my usual practise of cutting the pointless elastic tops off and then next time just buying some cheaper socks that don’t make any claim about not leaving marks.

Comfortable socks
Gentle Grip is the perfect name for these as they do just that, they stay up but without cutting off your circulation. Lovely colours too and very comfortable.
