Ryobi RY48140 zero turn mower conversion
As many Ryobi RY48140 owners have experienced, the lead acid batteries degrade after several years to the point where the mower only cuts a fraction of the lawn area per charge. The mower is mechanically a really nice machine, however the lead acid batteries are a huge design fail. This is very unfortunate since I paid $5K for my mower in 2022. After researching the several on-line conversion videos available I decided to purchase the EPOCH 48V 60Ah GC2 battery kit. EPOCH has made the conversion even easier than what the videos show. The kit comes with a Bluetooth enabled battery health transmitter, a gauge that has the exact circumference that fits in the mower’s control panel, two LiFePO4 batteries, connection block, and all of the cabling required. The conversion took about 3-4 hrs to perform. I drilled a few holes into the mower’s battery tray to hold all of the components in place with brackets I fashioned. The gauge’s power was tied to the ignition switch. There are GND and 48V wires that can be used in the original connector to the old gauge. All components worked at power up. Ther was only one hiccup. The gauge failed to work after a few power up cycles. EPOCH’s customer service is among the best I have ever experienced. After submitting a request via their web site, I received call within 30 min. A replacement gauge was shipped immediately. I am now able to cut over 2 acres and still have battery capacity left. The mower has steady power throughout the entire charge cycle unlike the lead acid batteries. The conversion is pricey, however, the remarkable performance increase and saving the scrapping of an expensive electric mower makes it definitely worth it.

Great, after a rocky start
Ordered the dual 48V battery kit, got the confirmation, and then crickets for about two weeks. Submitted status update requests to support, made phone calls, spoke with someone, submitted more update requests, and finally spoke with president of sales who I guess made the delivery happen. Once I received the kit, it was all good. I followed a Canadian guy on YouTube for installation instructions, so can't comment on Epoch's instructions, except to say there were none in the kit. I like that the batteries have an on/off switch, they fit perfectly in the battery compartment of my EZGO TXT, I like the buses for the positive and negative connections, included inverter, and included bluetooth. The bluetooth makes the gauge obsolete, so I didn't hook the gauge up in the cart. Instructions or directions would have been helpful, but the Canadian guy's videos were excellent. A battery hold down bracket would be nice, too. I just used a ratchet strap.

Fantastic product
So happy with my Lithium kit for my golf cart. They even included a battery strap for lifting out the old batteries, really helpful. I had to call into tech support only one, spoke to Jeremy, who was incredibly helpful and resolved my issue right away. I'll be looking for a 36V kit next for my other golf cart.
