Seeking a Product Review Adds to the Frustration
How do I like my new Epson F570 Sublimation Printer, you ask? Unfortunately, I can't answer that question because it still hasn't been shipped. Receiving a request to review a product that has not even left the warehouse is both surprising and frustrating. Since placing my order, I have emailed customer service, spoken with a representative by phone, and learned that my printer is now not expected to arrive until well over a month after I placed my order. Had there been any indication of this before I completed my purchase, I would have made a different decision. At no point during the ordering process was I informed that the printer was backordered, subject to significant delays, or effectively being sold as a preorder. There was no notice on the product page, during checkout, in my order confirmation, or in the shipping confirmation that would have allowed me to make an informed purchasing decision. Instead, I was led to believe I was purchasing an available product. What makes this experience even more disappointing is the lack of proactive communication. I only learned of the delay after reaching out to customer service myself, and my follow-up email requesting a resolution has gone unanswered. This was my first purchase from MakerFlo—approximately $3,500—and I chose to purchase from them instead of a competitor based on the expectation of receiving the equipment in a reasonable timeframe. Because of the lack of transparency regarding inventory and fulfillment, that decision has now cost me the opportunity to purchase elsewhere, as competing bundles are no longer available. The printer was purchased specifically so my wife, an elementary school teacher, could spend her summer break learning the equipment and preparing classroom projects before school resumes. That opportunity has now been significantly diminished because of delays that were never disclosed before the sale. Delays can happen, and most customers understand that. What is much harder to accept is selling a product without disclosing that it is unavailable, failing to communicate the delay proactively, requesting a product review before the item has even shipped, and then failing to respond to a customer's request for assistance. I remain hopeful that MakerFlo will take meaningful steps to resolve this situation, but based on my experience to this point, I cannot recommend this purchasing experience or MakerFlo as a company to any prospective purchasers.
