cheap plastic - high cost

last year, i noticed a strange vibration thru the dock floor, only to discover the prop was missing 2 blades. this year all 4 blade were missing; now i have crocs and snapping turtles in my lake. why is there no cage protecting the blades? furthermore why is the prop made from cheap brittle plastic? instead of abs or nylon reinforced? or even metal?
