Once you have dipped your toe in these waters . . . .
I fell a little bit in love with the brand and my brush (YSS17 Highlight, iconic otherworldly blue) just reading this site’s page on the brand, Meet the Maker. Everything about its history, from its role in the calligraphic arts transitioning to making our faces their paper scrolls…taught me about their Jananese-ness. I learned about Japanese culture in a capsule. Read the short article and let it entice you to do more research! This house opens its doors so you can easily identify the codes of the brush by simple and memorable signs, the three star colours each carry symbolic meaning depending on the brush and how you, the customer, are going to use it. So voilà, I was already entrenched in a world of symbolic meanings that were both personal and universal, true art, yet in an extremely organised world of constituent parts…..and I hadn’t yet touched the tippy top tips of the squirrel hairs that were to graze my cheeks. As you know, a highlight brush can be all you want it to be and the ways one can apply and dust and shine and sweep product on the skin varies with each one’s pleasure. I own a few exceptionally performant and luxurious brushes but remain enamoured by my Tasheido highlighter. I have been yearning for several of the Tanseido brushes and the blue of my highlighter, the lightest sweep of warmth or light needed on my cheeks or nose tip or outside the eyes….the blue is there to remind me of the infinite possibility that I will buy more, though it is difficult to chose when one is smitten with the Taseido microcosm of fude. I strongly suggest trying this model if it’s your first Taseido purchase and let the colour guide you. The brush brings the best and biggest sense to the word “highlight”.
