A fantastic machine made by a fantastic company

The greatest echo device ever!?!?
The greatest echo device ever created? I have always wanted a tape delay. Particularly a multi head unit. But finding and maintaining a reliable RE unit just seemed too tedious, so I was a BBD guy. Perhaps psychological, but digital delay and modulation just doesn’t feel right, nor does digital reverb. I’ve always avoided a/d and d/a conversion between my guitar and speaker cab. Luckily, there are some fantastic BBD delays and modulations to choose from, and nothing beats a well implemented spring reverb. So when I saw the EF-X3 added BBD chorus, there was no contemplation. I NEEDED this unit. And not only did it meet my expectations, it blew them away! Construction is top notch. The tape mechanism is a work of art. The balanced I/O and multiple outs make this a dream creative tool in the studio…and the delay sound quality…from pristine duplication at full speed to musical degradation at slowest speeds, and repeats that fade to a diffuse, reflective reverb. Plus the EQ option to keep the repeats from muddling up the direct sound when subtlety is desired. Everything about the EF-X3 tape effect is magical. And don’t forget the chorus…the BBD has plenty of fidelity to yield a shimmering chorus and a vibrato that doesn’t sacrifice high end. And the spring reverb is solid. Tuned well for having return mix only and short spring tank. I feel like a new path of my musical journey has been laid before me with the acquisition of the EF-X3. I just want to plug in and play!

Love this device. Sounds amazing. I haven't found anything that it sounds bad on. Guitars, synths, vox all are enhanced. Effect goes from subtle to all enveloping and everything between. The tone is incredible and I've been using it every time I play music since I got it. Wish it was all tube. Wish I had a few more routing options with the verb and chorus. And I wish there was a way to have a switchable option to have the individual head outputs on the back mirror the knob output selection on the front. Maybe they could sell a "mixer" module that lets you take all the outputs on the back and send them to stereo or quad out based on the knob on the front. Volume control over the individual heads would be interesting. Also hoping that they will publish a schematic and maintenance manual so that if they ever go out of business, these things don't become paper weights.
