The material laid down on to the fiberglass well with its own self adhesive. It seems very glued down. There is a little wiggle room as your laying it down with the ability to bend the material slightly before you stick it down. Once down it does not come off so you have to get it right the first time. I really like it as the boat seems complete, and very "anti slip" for feet and shoes. I have slid of bare fiberglass before and hurt myself badly. Great to step on while entering the boat and filling it with gas.
