Great Snake Boot
I've worn these boots twice now and they are so much more comfortable than the Lacrosse Venom II boots that I recently purchased from another retailer and returned those due to discomfort issues. While this boot and the other brand were both made in Vietnam, the Danners seem to be a better quality boot and so much more comfortable, especially around the ankles. I ordered the Danners in a size 14 medium to accomodate 2 pairs of thick wool socks in cold weather. If you are going to wear these boots in a climate that goes down into the 30's and you wear a size 12 shoe like I do, I recommend that you order this boot in a size 14, otherwise with the heavy socks you will not have enough toe room. According to their website, Kevin's is good about accepting returns of unused items like these, so I suggest you wear them indoors with the number of pairs of socks you'd be wearing normally, until you are satisfied that they are keepers. It's always good to check a retailer's return policy. While I haven't had to return my boots, I did talk to Kevin's customer service, pre-sale, about sizing and the CSR was friendly, helpful and assured me that the boots could be returned and exchanged for another size if needed. Finally, I would add that once you determine the boots are keepers, then get a good leather conditioner and treat the leather before you break them in. It will help the boots comform better to you feet and increase the comfort factor. A good leather oil that I use is OBENAUF'S LEATHER OIL (with Beeswax and proplis). I suppose by now you have figured out that I really like these boots. I do and I recommend them to anyone looking for a good snake boot.
