Gathered Together is aimed at the pew sitter, of which I am one, & the author has found his mark! In this short book Karl Deenick explores what is at the heart of God's church, & what is central to our partnership in his church. Biblical truth is explored & presented with a touch that is light, but never simplistic; & we find our inadequate assumptions about church challenged by well-presented, heartwarming evidence. The author lays before us a faithful catalogue of scriptural treasures ... We read of the significance of gathering as God's people, & find ourselves drawn into another realm whose invisible cosmic reality convicts our hearts ... We consider Sabbath rest, & find ourselves engaging with the author's biblical witness in all its tender precision, as he demonstrates that such rest is our Maker's gift to us, wonderfully meeting our need for a weekly recharge. There is much more ... This "little primer", as Karl Deenick describes it, is full of wisdom for the practicalities of life, plus help for us pew sitters as we seek to partake in the responsibilities & the glories that are ours, as members of God's people. All up, it is an absorbing read, both thrilling & sobering. I'd love to think many of us will do ourselves the favour of reading it; of reflecting on it; & of working at applying the truths the author so persuasively draws to our attention. Anne Trouncer.

Possibly the best book I've read on church - so biblical! Helpful in addressing questions like local church vs universal church and why it's so important we keep gathering. Helpful illustrations. Was surprised the last chapter was on rest but totally made sense and loved it!
