Simply put, it's a good read. I'd love to have seen how the entire volume of which this book was originally a section of would have turned out. I think Fr. Seraphim gives a strong argument for the development of western philosophy and societal trends being a result of nihilism and Nietzsche's role in that. I think it functions well as an introduction to modern philosophy, or, how one should view modern philosophy and world events. Fr. Seraphim is the type of writer who will fit a paragraph long digression into a sentence, and does so often in this piece in particular. It can take a bit to get used to his flow, but it's worth it once you do.
