Vixen Dovetail for Celestron C8

Both the installation directions and included mounting hardware are wrong. As far as the directions go, the C8 has a #10 threaded hole in the front and two #8 threaded holes in the back. I believe that has been like that since the beginning of time for the C8. It takes two #10 screws to attach the dovetail to the mounting blocks one of which through fastens to the C8. The included hardware consisted of two 5/8" #8 screws, one 3/4" #10 screw and four 1/2" #10 screws. The hardware really needed is one 7/8" #10 screw, one 5/8" #10 screw and two 1/2" #8 screws. The dovetail itself and radius blocks are good. I would have given a higher rating but never got a reply from my email about the hardware and directions to Farpoint.

Title says it all. Fits the Grey model nexstar 8 from the early 2000's. Very strong and sturdy vixen rail.

Dovetail mount kit.

The dovetail rail and mounts are well machined, but the included hardware did not fit my Celestron. Noted hardware for both Meade and Celestron telescopes. The screws to mount the dovetail to the adapter plates are too short and the screws to mount the adapters to the tube or too long, a quick trip to the hardware store fix this issue.
