A Step Mandrel

The mandrel is not tapered, it steps up in size. This is too abrupt, you will most certainly break at least half of the rings you try to stretch on it. I tested it and it certainly does exactly that. Now, I might actually grind the mandrel down into a conical shape, but it might not be functional after that ...

No instructions came with this ring stretcher, even after I asked for them. Still, I tried stretching a silver ring, but without success. Therefore, I found no value in this tool. . . RSE
