I bought a couple of these to throw in my cars. E-tools are great for all kinds of emergency situations. The tools I received are in excellent, like new condition. A quick spray of silicone lubricant on the hinges and locking mechanism was all they needed to be ready for use. Well worth the money.

Lissen Up, folks! I live in San Francisco, go skiing in the mountains, and was looking for an emergency shovel for my Honda Element (no four wheel drive on mine). In short--I was not going to give it to my 6-yr old to make sand castles, nor was I going to be entrenching with the troops during the Battle of the Bulge (Dec '44 - Jan '45). So it'll be *stored* most of the time (must be small)...yet when I need it, it'll be to hack thru ice and snow---perhaps even in a life-threatening situation. In other words, TOUGH. In short--don't even look at the junk on Amazon: you'll immed. notice--if you read specs carefully--that often parts are made of plastic....espec. the threaded "clinch knob" that ensures the unfolded shovel blade is secure. Yep--plastic....like the model planes you used to build in 6th grade. THIS baby is same, or close to, as used by our boys on the Normandy beaches, the Italian Alps campaign (deadly to us; advantageous to the Germans; didn't involve any Italians) and other places in history. Meaning...YES, you can trust it. And you think those guys wanted to walk across half of Europe carrying something heavier and larger than necessary strapped to their belt? Ah, no. Buy this shovel (I highly recommend the well-made case also offered), tuck in back of yr car, and drive in snowstorms w/ confidence. All thanks to the great team at McGuire Army Navy!
