Completely rancid when opened

I purchased this as a gift a few months in advance and recently gave it to someone. She just let me know that after opening it, the smell was absolutely rancid. It was still sealed - there’s no reason it should have gone bad. Super disappointed as I’ve used the product before and it was gorgeous.
