Black Henna Jagua Paste Cones
emily · March 31, 2026
Stains very dark! But smells very intense.
I used this product to stain my fingers black for my renaissance fair witch costume! I wanted to have an opaque to semi transparent gradient from my fingertips to my first knuckles. I was able to achieve such a look but not without some drawbacks. First, I was unaware of how intense the smell of this henna jagua combo would be once it dried. It made my hands smell like old candles, waxy and earthy, but not pleasant. This smell made attempting to sleep (I sleep with my hands by my face usually) very difficult. It also made interactions with my boyfriend pretty awkward, as when I held his face to kiss him he would wrinkle his nose. I tried a variety of solutions to be rid of the smell such as an apple cider vinegar soak and washing my hands repeatedly after the full curing process, but the smell persisted. I found it was mostly concentrated around the nails, and I found dried bits of the paste under my cuticles and my nails. Taking a small tool to carefully clean those areas did help some, but the smell was definitely still present. It only faded completely after 5 days or so. My second issue I found was that due to the jagua juice the dried bits of paste will still leave a stain when in contact with skin. The stain will be totally invisible at first but will slowly darken over several hours. Because of this I accidentally stained my palms blue in addition to my fingers being black. After I had scraped most of the dried henna off after it cured, to get the extra bits I tried to loosen them with friction by rubbing my hands over the more stubborn spots. My advice is just to please be extra careful when removing the dried paste. The product definitely works as it should, but those are some things to keep in mind when purchasing.

the henna didn't stain as dark as I would've liked in some areas but that honestly probably my fault I got excited and forgot what patience was but other than that its super smooth and easy to work with and super pretty this was my first time using henna and it turned out so good!
