Elderberry wine

I bought berries in order to make 5 gallons of Elderberry wine. I made this decision when I realized harvesting berries in the wild was going to be too difficult . I love the quality of the berries I received, and the wine is aging nicely. Bought another batch recently to do it all over again and to color my strawberry wine.

This was my first time buying dried elderberries and first time making a batch of elderberry syrup. The berries were clean and dry. I used about half the bag and added Ceylon cinnamon, cloves and ginger, and topped it off with local raw honey. It turned out great! As we were all going through spring colds, we all benefited from frequent spoonfuls of the syrup. It’s time to make another batch! I will be buying again.
