Wonderful Transmitter and Excellent Service!
I recently upgraded my radios, I had a ten year old JR XG6 but honestly JRs current receivers are $100+ and their technology is now 12+ years old and not truly advancing , so bye bye JR. I wanted a reasonably priced system with the most compact and light receivers with built in alti, vario, volt sensors for my gliders, reliable link, relative ease of programming, good ergonomics, and good looks (I know, it has to look cool!). Tried JETI (DS-12), Spektrum (DX6 G3, DX8G2), RadioMaster (Zorro), and FrSky (X18). I am keeping the FrSky X18 and the Jeti DS-12. The more I get to know my X18 and the FrSky system, the more I like it. FrSky is not the same company from 12 years ago with ugly radios and running on OpenTX. They are really truly pushing the envelope in technology and I believe they are now a mature and stable company with a great product line. FrSky Ethos is the operating system in their most recent radios. It is not hard to program. If you advance to complex programming (flight modes, logic switches, sequencers, etc.) is not really difficult nor it requires you to be a software engineer as there are many ready to go templates, resources and support available. Of course price is a consideration and again here FrSky offers great quality and features for the money. Important caveat is that the current FrSky firmware updating process can be a pain, recommend to stay in the most stable version that is at least 1 year old and stay with that.
