Hogsmeade Station

At this price?!!!

I put together a nice Harry Potter O Gauge train set this year with switching tracks under the tree. I was excited to find these as they had been reviewed by Peter Kennth, the Potter collector, and were close in scale to the scene I wanted to build. I will say, the sculpting on these pieces is nice and whimsical however it stops there. let’s start with lighting. WHY in 2022 are these resin houses using heat emitting light bulbs? These lights shop be by each window and dimmable. Light blocking: Anytime you build anything with lights, the key is to block any light leaking. You coat the inside in black and add reflective tape to maximize light dispersion. One LED Lucan light a small structure such as this easily. When this is turned on, the house looks like It’s going to blow similar to the implosion from Poltergeist, or the final scene from Heavy Metal. It looks like a nuke is inside! The brick lines and the whole house glows. Horrible Paint Because the light illuminates the entire house from within, EVERY paint flaw is visible. Windows and lines look like they were done by a worker who didn’t care. I immediately packaged it up and didn’t even bother opening the other two houses I ordered. I feel like the picture is false advertising as well. While the windows are lit, it no where shows how the whole house glows “warmly “.

Excellent Harry Potter piece

The Hogsmeade Station is an excellent addition to the Harry Potter Department 56 world. It looks great either lit or unlit. I would recommend this piece to anyone.
