I would be hard pressed to think of a movie as nihilistic as Ebola Syndrome. There is not one character, scene or concept of this is movie that is wholly good or altruistic. You don’t walk away feeling good. While not as good as Lau’s previous movie, The Untold Story, Ebola Syndrome goes into a somewhat similar but more bombastic direction. Animal deaths will always reduce a movie’s rating for me and this movie is no exception. The deaths serve no purpose. I love the slipcover by Chris Barnes. The extra features are worth a viewing for sure, some BTS footage and a couple of interviews with Herman Yau.

Insane Fun

One of the craziest protagonists ever, making it a fun movie from beginning to end. The story feels like a series of vignettes.

Herman Yau and Anthony Wong attack once again!!!

Pretty bloody and amazing CAT III flick from Herman Yau, with lots of blood, gore and over the top acting. Anthony Wong shines playing another crazy dude, like in The Untold Story. Also, the features and 4k restoration are really awesome!!
