A Generous Tea Adventure: Thoughtful Surprises and New Favorites in the Ginormo Curated Box
I waited far too long to share my experience with the “Ginormo” Friday’s Picks Curated Box, and I truly owe a debt of gratitude to Friday for her incredible assistance and graciousness throughout my order. As a relatively new customer, I treated myself to this box in hopes of exploring a wide variety of teas, discovering rare samples, and avoiding certain ingredients I don’t enjoy, such as red rooibos, black currant, and raspberry.
When I placed my order, I included a rather detailed (perhaps rambling) list of likes, dislikes, dietary restrictions, and hopes for my box. There was a small mix-up with my initial shipment, where I received only samples and no full-sized products. However, Friday handled it with exceptional kindness and efficiency, quickly resolving the issue and demonstrating her genuine dedication to both her shop and her customers. If the rating for this were entirely about how much Friday cares about her customers and shop, it would be 10 out of 5 stars. This level of care truly impressed me, and when my replacement/supplemental box arrived, I was delighted with the amount of tea inside. I had specifically requested more rare tea samples instead of tea accessories (since my cupboards are already overflowing), and Friday was attentive to that request.
Some of the highlights of my box were the rare samples—receiving another 1 oz bag of Silver Needle Yeti, 3 Pu-er balls, a 1 oz “Lucky 13” blend (a rare treat I was excited to try), and smaller sample packages of Golden Snails and Honeyfairyland, which have since become favorites that I’ve repurchased in larger sizes. The rest of the box included a generous assortment of sample-sized teas and several one-ounce blends.
While the vast majority of the box was a wonderful fit, there were a few blends that didn’t quite match my tastes. For example, Fate Control, which contains a significant amount of red rooibos, was included despite my note about avoiding this ingredient. The Spring Blend, although a charming idea since Friday's daughter created it at a young age, was a bit too delicate for my palate, featuring a light floral profile with only four ingredients: calendula, hibiscus, lemongrass, and chamomile. Additionally, the inclusion of Decaf Vanilla Black was a bit surprising, as it was a bit plain compared to what I was looking for. Given the investment in the Ginormo box, I would have loved to see even more rare teas or full-sized versions of favorites like Honeyfairyland or the Pu-er teas, as well as larger portions of unique or dark blends such as The Courtesan, which I only received as a sample. Honestly, I wish they had looked at my wishlist and used it as a guide, if possible. I think that may have been my fault for not being clear enough in my requests, though!
I also received some really cute tea-related stickers, which I put in my journal, and a brewing magnet with general brewing guidelines on it.
Overall, I am genuinely pleased with the sheer variety and abundance of teas in the Ginormo box—it will keep me happily sipping for quite some time! I would rate this experience four out of five stars, as a few selections didn’t fully reflect my input, but the overall assortment was impressive and enjoyable. I think this box would make an excellent gift for any tea lover, especially those new to Friday Afternoon Tea or anyone looking to broaden their collection. If you have very specific blends in mind, it might be best to purchase them directly. However, if you enjoy the thrill of discovery and trying new things, the Ginormo box is a truly fun and generous surprise!
